Mrs. Karen Campbell

Welcome to the Intermediate Learning Center.  My class provides Special Education services for identified students in grades 4-6, but this year I am serving 5th and 6th graders.  This is my 34th year of teaching.  I received my teaching credentials from California State University, Bakersfield. First, I received a credential in Physical Education, then received my Resource Specialist credential, after that was my Learning Handicapped credential, then onto my Preliminary Administrative credential while obtaining a Master's Degree in Special Education.

I was born and raised in Kern County.  I have been married for 31 years to my high school sweetheart and we have two daughters:  Lauren, 28 and Abigail, 26.  Lauren is a Special Education teacher and Abby lives in Atlanta, Georgia-where she is a Special Education teacher as well. My hobbies are my daughters and husband, wherever it takes us and whatever we do.  Lauren has blessed me with an 18-month-old grandson, Knox, and Abby is the mother of my five-year-old grand-dog Remi, a German Shepherd!

I began my teaching career at Emerson Junior High in Bakersfield City School District in 1989, then I was hired by Rosedale in 1994, and have taught at each school in the district except for Del Rio, Freedom, and American.  I have been at Patriot since it opened and would not change a thing about where I am, what I do, or the teachers and students I love working with.  There have been lots of changes since March of 2020, but I am thankful for the “grace” that my district and site administration, secretaries, fellow teachers, parents, and students have shown me as this “old dog, continues to learn new tricks”!  I am thrilled and blessed to work at Patriot!
