Oral Language Festival

The Oral Language Festival is a competitive event where students memorize and present an interpretation of a piece of children's literature. It is a wonderful opportunity for students to creatively express their love of literature and orally retell a story.  In addition, students gain confidence when performing for an audience.

4th - 8th grade students may compete in one of five categories:

  • Serious Solo

  • Humorous Solo

  • Serious Duo - 2 students

  • Humorous Duo - 2 students

  • Verse Choir - 3 - 6 students

Each school will determine how they will qualify students for the Rosedale District Oral Language competition.

The 2021-2022 District Competition is scheduled for the week of February 1st-4th in the RMS Gymnasium. Categories and their specific performance days will be announced closer to the competition.

The top two entries in each category will move on to compete at the Regional Oral Language Festival with students from Rosedale, Fruitvale, Norris, and Rio Bravo-Greeley schools.

From the Regional competition, the top two entries in each category will move on to compete at the Kern County Oral Language Festival on Saturday, April 30, 2022 from 8:30 a.m.-1:45 p.m. at Stonecreek Junior High.
