Welcome to our District...

Welcome to our District!

The Rosedale Union School District is located in the northwest of Bakersfield, California. The District provides kindergarten through eighth grade education services to residents of an area encompassing approximately twenty-eight square miles in the southern portion of the San Joaquin Valley of Central California. The District is governed by an independent Board of Trustees consisting of five members who are elected at large to overlapping four-year terms at elections held every two years. The District's affairs are administered by the Superintendent, who is appointed by the Board of Trustees.

The District was established in 1890 by pioneer farming families living in the Rosedale area. On June 28, 1933, Palm School District and the Rosedale School District united to form the present Rosedale Union School District.

The District has grown from one school and 18 students in 1890 to seven elementary and two middle schools with over 5,300 students in 2012.

Several schools within the District also have been recognized by the California Department of Education as California Distinguished Schools.

Our Mission

The mission of the Rosedale Union School District is to educate all students so they may become productive and informed citizens of the United States of America. Toward this end, the school community is committed to providing a child-centered learning environment with high expectations for student achievement and parent involvement.

A comprehensive core curriculum with high standards is emphasized and the diversity of learners is valued, so that each student will reach their full potential. Students will be provided with appropriate and meaningful instruction that develops self-worth and self-discipline through the mastery of basic curricular skills as well as analytical and creative thinking.

Focusing the school community around common goals will realize the achievement of the mission for the Rosedale Union School District.
