Registration Information
Dear Parents of Students Entering Transitional Kindergarten (TK) and Kindergarten (K),
Online Pre-Registration begins March 1, 2026, for the 2026-2027 school year. Registration information will be available at www.ruesd.net, on district social media, or you can contact your school office for additional information.Once your online registration is complete, the following documentation will need to be physically delivered to your school site.
Age Requirements:
For Transitional Kindergarten (TK), the student will have his/her fourth (4th) birthday by September 1, 2026.
For Traditional Kindergarten (K), the student will have his/her fifth (5th) birthday on or before September 1, 2026
Proof of Age: Please provide one of the following to your school office within 5 days of completing your online registration.
Birth certificate.
Baptismal certificate duly attested.
Passport.
Other appropriate means of providing a child's age - subject to approval by the Superintendent.
Proof of Residency: Please provide two (2) current items, one from each category listed below to your school office within five days of completing online registration. Residency verification must be thirty days current.
One(1) Primary POR:
Current monthly mortgage statement.
Current property tax payment receipt.
Current signed rental lease agreement.
AND
One (1) Secondary POR
Current utility service payment receipt or statement (Gas, Water, Electricity)
Official government mail (CalWORKS, Social Security, Medi-Cal, IRS).
Current employment pay stub with your name and address.
Voter registration.
Declaration of Residency - subject to approval by the Superintendent
Proof of Immunizations: Please provide to your school office once your student's immunizations are up to date.
All students must present an up to date immunization record prior to attending school. The following immunization requirements apply to students entering Transitional Kindergarten /Kindergarten: Diphtheria, Tetanus, and Pertussis (DTaP, DTP, Tdap, or Td) - 5 doses (4 doses are ok if one was given on or after 4th birthday, 3 doses are ok if one was given on or after 7th birthday.)
Polio (OPV or IPV) - 4 doses(3 doses are ok if one was given on or after 4th birthday)
Hepatitis B – 3 doses(not required for 7th grade entry)
Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) - 2 doses(both given on or after 1st birthday)
Varicella (Chickenpox)- 2 doses
Students who do not meet the immunization requirements as determined by the State of California will be referred to their private health care provider or to the Kern County Public Health Services Department at (661) 321-3000.
Effective January 1, 2016, Personal Beliefs Exemptions will no longer be an option for the vaccines that are currently required for entry into school or childcare in California. Personal belief exemptions filed at a school or childcare facility before January 1, 2016 will remain valid until the student enrolls in the next grade span, typically at TK/kindergarten or seventh grade. Grade spans are childcare, TK through sixth grade, and seventh grade through 12th grade.
A temporary or permanent Medical Exemption to one or more ofthe immunizations may be granted through CAIR-ME and your child's medical doctor:
Transitional Kindergarten / Kindergarten Physical: Please provide to your school office once complete.
California law requires each child to have a health examination report for school entry. This report consists of a health examination and an up-to-date immunization record. The Report of Health Examination for School Entry must be completed by a health examiner.
K-1 Oral Health Assessment (Dental Exam): Please provide to your school office once complete.
Effective January 1, 2007, an Oral Health Assessment(dental examination) by a licensed California dental health professional is required for children entering public school for the first time (at kindergarten or first grade). The Oral Health Assessment must be completed and returned to the school by May 31 of that first schoolyear. Assessments done 12 months prior to school entry also meet this requirement. Obtain the form from the school or your dental health provider to complete.
Parents/guardians may sign a waiver of this requirement, which is found on the OHA form available at the school.
Additional Enrollment Information: Please provide if applicable.
If your child is currently receiving special education services, please provide a copy of his/her most current IEP at the time of enrollment.
If your child has a current 504 plan, please notify school personnel at the time of enrollment.
If you have custody or restraining order information that the school should be aware of, you must provide current documentation for consideration.
If your child has a medical condition or takes medication during the school day, please complete a Request for Special Consideration during School Hours form
