Registration Information

Dear Parents of Students Entering Transitional Kindergarten (TK) and Kindergarten (K),

Online Pre-Registration begins March 1, 2024, for the 2024-2025 school year. Registration information will be available at www.ruesd.net, on district social media, or you can contact your school office for additional information. Once your online registration is complete, the following documentation must be physically delivered to your school site. Beginning this upcoming school year, the Rosedale Union School District will offer full-day Kindergarten, and TK will remain a half-day program. 

Proof of Age: Please provide one of the following to your school office within 5 days of completing your online registration.

  • Birth certificate.

  • Baptismal certificate.

  • Passport.

  • Court order.

  • Health office/vital statistics record of birth certificate date.

  • Department of Public Social Services (DPSS) letter verifying birthdate and an      explanation of how this was verified.

Proof of Residency: Please provide two (2) items listed below to your school office within 5 days of completing your online registration. Residency verification must be 30 days current.

  • Utility service contract, bills, or payment receipts (Gas, Water, or Electricity).

  • Property taxes, rental or lease agreement, or a current rental receipt with the property's address on the receipt.

  • Official government mail (CalWORKS, Social Security, Medi-Cal).

  • Current employment pay stub.

  • Voter registration.

  • Current bank statement from an accredited financial institution.

  • Declaration of residency - subject to approval by the Superintendent.

Proof of Immunizations: Please provide your student’s current immunizations to the school office. 

  • All students must present an up-to-date immunization record before attending school. The following immunization requirements apply to students entering Transitional Kindergarten.

  • Diptheria, Tetanus, and Pertussis (DTaP, DTP, Tdap, or Td) – 5 doses (4 doses are ok if one was given on or after 4th birthday, three doses are ok if one was given on or after 7th birthday.)

  • Polio (OPV or IPV) – 4 doses (3 doses are ok if one was given on or after 4th birthday)

  • Hepatitis B – 3 doses (not required for 7th-grade entry)

  • Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) – 2 doses (both given on or after 1st birthday)

  • Varicella (Chickenpox) – 2 doses

  • Students who do not meet the immunization requirements determined by the State of California will be referred to their private healthcare provider or the Kern County Public Health Services Department at (661) 321-3000.

  • Effective January 1, 2016, Personal Beliefs Exemptions will no longer be an option for the vaccines that are currently required for entry into school or childcare in California. Personal belief exemptions filed at a school or childcare facility before January 1, 2016, will remain valid until the student enrolls in the next grade span, typically at TK/kindergarten or seventh grade. Grade spans are childcare, TK through sixth grade, and seventh through 12th grade.

  • A temporary or permanent Medical Exemption to one or more of the immunizations may be granted with a signed note from a healthcare provider.

 

Transitional Kindergarten / Kindergarten Physical: Please provide it to your school office once complete.

  • California law requires each child to have a health examination report for school entry. This report consists of a health examination and an up-to-date immunization record. A health examiner must complete the Report of Health Examination for School Entry.

TK – 1 Oral Health Assessment (Dental Exam): Please provide it to your school office once complete.

  • Effective January 1, 2007, an Oral Health Assessment (dental examination) by a licensed California dental health professional is required for children entering public school for the first time (at kindergarten or first grade). The Oral Health Assessment must be completed and returned to the school by May 31 of that first school year. Assessments done 12 months prior to school entry also meet this requirement. Obtain the form from the school or your dental health provider to complete.

  • Parents/guardians may sign a waiver of this requirement, found on the OHA form available at the school.

Additional Enrollment Information: Please provide if applicable.

  • Copy of IEP (if the student is in Special Education).

  • Copy of 504 Plan (if the student is on a current 504 Plan).

  • Current Transcript.

  • Exit grades from the previous school (if enrolling during the school year) 

  • If the student has a medical condition or takes medication during the school day, please complete a Request for Special Consideration during School Hours document from the school office.

  • Legal/Other Documents: 

  • If you have a restraining order against any person involving this student, please present the restraining order so that a copy can be placed in the student’s records.

  • Please provide a copy of any custodial papers pertaining to your student at the time of registration. We can only enforce parental rights with current and valid legal documentation. 

  • Please provide a copy of foster placement or guardianship papers.

  • Students MUST be registered under their full legal name.
