Last Friday Centennial kicked off our Vet on a Jet fundraiser with a visit from Veteran Amondo from Kern County Honor Flight. We encourage families over the next two weeks to send in some spare change for this worthy cause.

On Friday, Centennial hosted our annual Oral Language Festival. Students memorized piece of literature and then performed for 3-5 minutes on stage in front of a packed house. We are so very proud of all of students who participated! Congratulations to Emily, Claire, Lily, Emmry, Crusoe, Gwen, and Jane who will be representing our school at the district level competition at the beginning of February.
Positive Mindsets! Yesterday we had a special assembly from NED talking about the power of YET. This is an uplifting assembly where the message of Never give up, Encourage others, and Do your best! is emphasized. A fun way to practice these skills is through Yo-Yos! Students are able to purchase Yo-Yos for the next few days that can be used at school during recess. All proceeds go towards paying for this fabulous assembly.

Last Saturday our Centennial PTC hosted a free Family Christmas Event: Merry Grinchmas! Families got into the holiday spirit with hot-coco, craft projects, popcorn, and fun chalk art. What a great way to celebrate the holiday season!

Last Friday our student council officers delivered over 200 toys to the Channel 17 KGET news station. They got to meet all of the news anchors and even be interviewed live on TV! Thank you again to all of the families who donated to our 3rd Annual Toy Drive.

Our kindergarten students are soaking up the sun this morning as they work on a new mural with kindergarten aide, Mrs. Lavenson.
This weekend our PTC elves were busy decorating classroom doors for the holiday season. Thank you to all of the parents who made our campus so cheerful and full of Christmas spirit!

4th graders this week were challenged to work in teams to create their very own life sized turkeys! The teams were given all of the same materials to work with and had to work together to come up with a plan.

Our 6th grade students have been learning all about ancient Egypt. This week they have been working together in teams to recreate artifacts like masks and mummies.

This week our Centennial Cubs were treated to an outdoor assembly from the Mobile Dairy. Students learned all about dairy cows and the products we enjoy because of them. Our bovine visior, Milkyway, was a huge hit!

Our 6th graders have been enjoying working with our talented music teacher, Mrs. Napier. Our choir has been signing fall songs and the band has been working on learning how to play their new instruments. Stay tuned for a concert later this year!
